چکیده
We present a general theory for the intermediate temperature (T ) properties of Heisenberg antiferromagnets of spin-S ions on p-leg ladders, valid for 2Sp even or odd. Following an earlier proposal for 2Sp even (Damle and Sachdev, Phys. Rev. B 57, 8307), we argue that an integrable, classical, continuum model of a fixed-length, 3-vector applies over an intermediate temperature range; this range becomes very wide for moderate and large values of 2Sp. The coupling constants of the effective model are known exactly in terms of the energy gap above the ground state ∆ (for 2Sp even), or a crossover scale T0 (for 2Sp odd). Analytic and numeric results for dynamic and transport properties are obtained, including some exact results for the spin-wave damping. Numerous quantitative predictions for neutron scattering and NMR experiments are made. A general discussion on the nature of T > 0 transport in integrable systems is also presented: an exact solution of a toy model proves that diffusion can exist in integrable systems, provided proper care is taken in approaching the thermodynamic limit. Recent developments in the analysis of finite temperature dissipationless transport in inte-grable quantum many body problems are presented. In particular, we will discuss: (i) the role played by the conservation laws in systems as the spin 1/2 Heisenberg chain and the one-dimensional Hubbard model, (ii) exact results obtained using the Bethe ansatz method on the long time decay of current corr...

The nonlinear equations describing phase ordering dynamics can be closed by assuming the existence of an underlying Gaussian stochastic field which is nonlinearly related to the observable order parameter field. We discuss the relation between different implementations of the Gaussian assumption and consider the limitations of this assumption for phase ordering dynamics. The fact that the diffe...

We show that SUq(2) invariant systems in one and two dimensions exhibit Bose-Einstein condensation for q > 1. For these systems there is a λ-transition at the critical temperature. The critical temperature and the gap in the heat capacity increase more rapidly for small deviations from the standard value q = 1, and they become approximately constant for large values of q. For low temperatures a...
